Changes at Holistic Therapy Solutions

Hi All,

I'm back...it's been a while since I wrote a new blog entry.  It's been a busy summer - lots going on.
Today I'd like to outline some recent changes at Holistic Therapy Solutions, LLC.

First: we have a new location.  I'm moving into nice therapy room by 36th Street and Shea Blvd, here in Phoenix.  I really enjoyed the Pointe Business Plaza office, but practitioner that I was sharing office space with moved out of state and the new location is a more practical solution for the business at this time.  It's a nice comfortable space, and I've seen some clients in it already.  I'm still working on a few updates to the room, so I'll post photos when it's completed.

I'm also changing the schedule.  I'll be available for appointments on Thurs, Fri, and Saturdays.

Some of these changes are the result of another change in my career path.  Last fall I went back to school to become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician.  It's a 9 credit hour course - one semester.  I finished and became a certified, licensed EMT.  About 3 months ago I started working at a drug and alcohol crisis center.   We work with anyone who walks in the door, mostly homeless folks.  We have the crisis unit and also a detox center.  It's difficult work sometimes, but overall I enjoy it and it's fulfilling work.  The company I work for has a lot of resources throughout the city and state, and they help people get sober and get their lives back.  I like being a part of that.

I still love assisting people with massage, reiki and cranial sacral therapy as well.  I'm just making a few changes to balance things out.  I'm still providing the same excellent level of customer service and the same high quality body work.  If you're looking for relaxation and stress relief or a more targeted therapy - I'm still happy and excited to be providing help.

I hope you're all having a great summer (or winter, if you're in the southern hemisphere).  There's still plenty to do, to help in your local communities.  Be kind, be grateful, and give a smile to a stranger - that may help them more than you'll ever know.

If you're  in Phoenix - call, text, or email for an appointment.

Holistic Therapy Solutions - A Closer Look

Hi All,

I hope everything is going well for you.  It's been a whirlwind several months.  I've been in the new office for a while now, but I also enrolled in and recently passed an Emergency Medical Technician course.  My mother in law and sister in law came to live with us at the same time, and my mother in law was able be comfortable and well cared for, in her final few months of life (we'll miss you Kathy - she was a wonderful part of our family).  It was a very busy and sometimes crazy time, but it was a gift to be able to spend this time with my mother in law.

As things are changing and resolving a bit, I realize I need to get back to focusing more on my business - Holistic Therapy Solutions.  Although I've been working and seeing clients, one of the things I never really did was properly show the new office and facilities.  So let me introduce Holistic Therapy Solutions, LLC in it's new/current location.  About 8 months ago I moved offices to the Pointe Business Plaza in the northeast part of Phoenix (16th Street near Glendale Ave).

The Pointe Business Plaza is a nice, well maintained, clean and comfortable business/office complex on 16th Street, right off the State Route 51.  I share office space with Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Katie Nuckolls.  We also share the office suite with three wonderful Licensed Professional Counselors.  If you need any of their services, I highly recommend all four.

It really is a comfortable office and when you arrive, there's a waiting area with comfy furniture and a nice relaxing space.

The office is just right for the massage and holistic therapies that I provide.  It's conveniently located...not far from central Phoenix, and close to all East Phoenix locations and Scottsdale.  It's just south of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve (in the shadow of Piestewa Peak).

Book an appointment soon.  Therapies include massage, craniosacral, and reiki.  I'm also available to consult on other holistic topics if you're interested.  I want to help, whether you need a nice relaxing session or you want to heal from injury or illness.  I also can bring chair massage to your office or event - always a nice perk for hard working employees or event guests.

In the coming weeks I'll be discussing some of the therapies we provide and how they can assist with your health.  I'm also going to be outlining some of the new therapy options that you may find to be just what you need.

The office is at 7227 N. 16th Street in Phoenix, Suite 213.  Call, text or email for an appointment.  My website has all the info - www.HolisticTherapySolutions.weebly.com

I hope your year is off to a great start.  This year - treat yourself well and kind.  Treat yourself with the love and respect, that you would treat others with.  Be kind to others as well...everyone needs that.  Together, we can make a difference.  Have a wonderful week.

Peace,

Tom

New Adventure

Hi All,

Happy Fall!  I hope things are going well for all of you.  Things have been busy and hectic here...and I think we're finally past 100 degree days for a while. Ha!  We'll see....

It's been a while since I've shared on the blog and I wanted to let you know why.  I'm still in the holistic health biz and still an artist and designer, but I've also gone back to school.  I'm in school to learn to be an emergency medical technician.

I'd been thinking about it for quite a while and finally took action to get into the program in this fall semester.  It's a quick one semester program and when I'm finished I'll be qualified to be part of an ambulance/rescue squad team, work in a hospital emergency room, or some other job where they have EMTs.

I've felt drawn to work in the healing arts my whole life - either in self study of holistic and natural healing, or working as a medical illustrator in Air Force teaching hospitals for 10 years of my time on active duty, and of course obtaining the holistic healthcare degree and massage license.

So here's my plan as of right now.  I still am renting an office in NE Phoenix to do massage and energy work.  Once certified as an EMT, I'll start looking for job opportunities where I can practice my new skills and still provide holistic therapies at my office.  At some point I may continue on to paramedic school....we'll see.

So that's whats going on and why I haven't been blogging lately.  One of these days (soon), I look forward to completing EMT school and getting back to "normal." (whatever that is...LOL).  At that point I'll get back to blogging, doing more artwork, etc....

It's a crazy time here in the USA...our elections our especially heated this year.   However - just come back to the present moment.  Enjoy it, whatever you're doing...and breathe.  Elections will come and go, and it will be alright...whatever the outcome.  Have a great week...remember - in spite of all the craziness in the world, we can still make it a little better place for each other and those coming behind us....one day at a time.

Peace and Love,

Tom

New Office - Holistic Therapy Solutions

Hi All,

Well, it's the first of May and today is moving day.  I'm excited to announce publicly that Holistic Therapy Solutions is moving to a new location.  The new location is in the Pointe Business Plaza at 7227 N. 16th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020.  It's south of Northern Ave on 16th Street.

Moving day...the front door.
I was just fine with the location that I was at (19th Ave and Camelback), when a friend of mine, (Dr. Katie Nuckolls), asked if I'd like to share office space at the Point Business Plaza.  It's a great location and a very nice professional business plaza.  So I'm a little sad as I leave the old location, but looking forward to the new opportunity.
Our comfy waiting area...ignore the stuff stacked up - still organizing the office space.
We share a suite with three other people.  They're all counselors/psychologists.  We all share a nice waiting area as well.  It's a very nice quiet comfortable and professional environment...great place to relax and get a massage or cranialsacral therapy.
The office.  Getting set up and ready for this week.
I'll be booking appointments on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  I'll be starting there tomorrow.  Let me know if you need an appointment.

Have a great week.

Peace,

Tom

BioCatalin - Enzyme Lotion

Hi All,

Hope you're all having a great week.  My week is going alright.  I'm keeping busy with clients and getting some other things done as well....and taking it a moment at a time.

So last week, as I was experiencing some pain in one of my thumb joints, I noticed my tube of BioCatalin enzyme lotion on the shelf.   I reached for it and applied it to my thumb, rubbed it in good and went to bet.  When I woke up my thumb felt great.  So I've been using it regularly since and the thumb and other achy finger joints feel pretty good.  I was surprised and delighted.  I'd used it a little a while back and forgot about it.

So, what is this lotion and what does it do?  It's an enzyme lotion designed to have anti-inflammatory properties that have been shown to stimulate the bodies own natural enzyme process without suppressing the immune system.  It helps provide relief from chronic inflammatory conditions and also has circulation support to assist with the healing process.

In the interest of full disclosure - besides being a massage and holistic therapy provider I'm an Energetix representative.  I've been a rep. for them for quite a while, but I'm not really a sales person.  So I use the products because I do believe in them, and occasionally offer them to others as well.  I like the company and products because they're all natural and they have the highest standards for quality.  They offer nutritional supplements and homeopathic remedies as well as some flower essences.  They really offer excellent, high-end products.

My thumb?  Well, it's a work in progress.  I'm a massage therapist, so it get's plenty of use, but it does feel a lot better than it has in a long time.  This has been an eye opening experience and I'll probably start offering these products to clients who are interested.

If you're interested in Energetix products, take a look at their website: http://www.goenergetix.com/
Let me know if you'd like to try any of the products.  I'd be happy to order for you.
My website and contact info: www.HolisticTherapySolutions.weebly.com

Have a great week everyone.

Peace,

Tom

What I Do at Holistic Therapy Solutions

Hi Everyone,

I had the thought that it's time to let everyone know again, what I do and why you may want to honor my humble therapy table.  Here's my mission and what I'm doing at Holistic Therapy Solutions, LLC in Phoenix, Arizona.
Logo for Holistic Therapy Solutions, LLC in Phoenix, AZ
My passion is help people feel good, to heal; to come to a place of balance.  We live in a fast paced, stressful world.  With all that's going on and required of us, it can be easy to get out of balance.  That can take form in many ways - pain, injury; it can affect us both mentally and physically.  My massage and holistic therapies are designed and intended to restore balance and harmony to you - on whatever level needed.

Massage Therapy:  I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist.  My specialty is a firm, relaxing, therapeutic massage, designed to meet each individual's needs.  It's great for physical stress relief and mental decompressing.  It's also good to work the tension out of the trouble areas or heal from injury.  It's my firm belief that without an effective method of releasing the issues of daily life, we store them in the tissues of the body - eventually the body lets you know with pain or "dis-ease."  A good massage once a month is excellent maintenance to keep balance in today's fast paced life.

My therapy room at Holistic Therapy Solutions, LLC
Reflexology:  The feet, hands, and ears are a hologram of the body, representing all parts and systems of the body in each.  Thru therapeutic massaging/working of these areas, you can send healing stimulation to all parts and systems of the body (including organs, glands, muscles, etc).  Reflexology can be very healing and it feels wonderful.  Another added benefit - you can get an ok foot rub somewhere, but once you have a true reflexology session from a professional, you'll never settle for less again.

Bottom of the Feet with Reflexology map of some of the body.
Cranial Sacral Therapy:  Sometimes life can be downright difficult, and we can store the physical and emotional traumas we encounter in our tissues - especially in the fascia (connective tissue).  These tissues are everywhere in our body - around our muscles, bones, organs, etc...  This gentle yet powerful esoteric work focuses on tuning in to the "cranial wave," created by pulsing of cerebrospinal fluid that pulses up and down the spine and in and around the brain/cranium.  By tuning into the cranial wave and using other techniques, I work to help the trauma and tissues to unwind, release and come back into balance and harmony.  This work can be very deep and very rewarding, releasing both emotional and physical pain.  I've worked with Veterans who have issues with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries and have had good results.

Reiki Therapy:  This energy work is gentle, soothing and powerful, and can aid with healing on all levels.  It's also great for deep relaxation, stress relief, pain relief, and also helps bring the whole person back into a place of homeostasis - or balance.  One of my favorite combination therapies is to pair Reiki with relaxing hypnotherapy.  This therapy helps relax the client, addresses the issue with the subconscious, and they receive the healing benefit of deep energy work as well.

Sensei Usui - discovered Reiki in the early 1900s
Hypnotherapy: I've been playing with this for over 30 years.  I can assist with a variety of things including smoking cessation, self-discovery, making life changes, and more.

Classes:  I have a passion for teaching as well as therapy.  I've developed a number of classes that I offer occasionally including: Mindfulness and Meditation, Reiki Training, Introduction to Chi Energy.

Reiki Shares: As a Reiki Master, I hold Reiki and Energy Shares once a month.  This is a gathering where people, at all skill levels of Reiki and other energy work training can get together and practice and receive energy work.  It's also a place where people with no experience can come as well and learn a little more about it and experience this.  This is a great opportunity to practice your energy work training and gain confidence in a safe and non-judgmental environment.  We also socialize a little too and have fun.

New At Holistic Therapy Solutions

Hi All,

It's a beautiful Friday morning here in Phoenix, AZ as I sit down to write a quick blog post.  It's one of perhaps that last few cool days before the hot Arizona summer takes hold.  So we're enjoying it.

As you may know, I've been in a new location for a few months now.  I rent an office suite with Ray Kopakowski, who is owner/therapist at Inner Power Hypnotherapy.  Recently, Ray and I decided it's time to reach out to the neighborhood and introduce them who we we are and what we do.  Part of that is that we're going to offer some great lunchtime and anytime services.

Flier for Holistic Therapy Solutions

We've developed fliers that we can distribute in the local area that offer some great deals to help with the stress and tension of daily life.  I'm offering Chair Massage Tuesdays - 11:30-1; 15 minute chair massages for $10.  I'm also offering 30 minute lunchtime massages for $20.  These focus primarily on the back, neck, shoulders, and arms.  I also have a coupon for 20% off your first appointment.

Flier for Inner Power Hypnotherapy
My office partner Ray is offering a coupon for a Rapid Lunchtime Induction.  These hypnotherapy sessions can help with stress and tension release, and also weight loss, smoking cessation and other changes that people may want to change in their lives. With coupon it's only $35, ($7.50 off the regular price).

Of course these deals are open to everyone, not just the neighborhood business people.  So stop by on Tuesday for a chair massage, or make an appointment for a rapid induction session or a 30 minute lunchtime massage.  We both still provide all our other services as well.  I'll post both of our websites at the bottom of this post.  Check us out.

Have a great day everyone, wherever you're at.  Enjoy this day - be present in everything you do.

Peace,

Tom

Epsom Salt Baths - Great Health Benefits

Hi All,

It's been a pretty decent week here in Phoenix, the massage and holistic biz is going well and keeping me busy.  As an holistic therapist, I often recommend clients take Epsom salt baths after they get a massage or energy work or other holistic therapies, along with drinking plenty of water and other things.  I think most people believe that it's a healthy thing and helps draw out toxins from the body, but how many of us are really familiar with the benefits of an Epsom Salt bath?  So what are the benefits of an Epsom Salt bath?

You can get Epsom Salts at drug stores and most supermarkets.  They're very inexpensive.
First of all, Epsom Salts are high in Magnesium and Sulfates.  If you have a magnesium deficiency, soaking in a bath containing Epsom salts can give you a boost in that area.  The body absorbs these thru the skin, where it goes into the bloodstream.  At the same time, the Epsom Salts help to pull salt and harmful toxins out of the body.

Magnesium is very important to the body.  It helps to regulate 325 enzymes in the body.  It helps to improve muscle and nerve function.  It also helps improve blood flow and oxygenation of the blood.

The Sulphates are important too.  They help to keep your joints healthy.  They also are good for healthy skin and nerve tissue.

Epsom Salts can also assist with relief from various chronic health issues like; improved heart and circulatory problems, gout, improve the bodies ability to use insulin, pain and stress relief, can also ease regularity of migraine headaches.  It also helps the body absorb nutrients and helps relieve stress.

Of course there are always contraindications.  Women who are pregnant shouldn't take Epsom Salt baths.  If you're dehydrated or have burns or open wounds you shouldn't use Epsom Salts in your bath either.

So remember; the next time your massage or holistic therapist recommends using epsom salts, there's very good reasons for it.  Enjoy the bath.

Have a great day.

Peace,

Tom

New Home for Holistic Therapy Solutions

Hi All,

I hope things are going well for you - wherever you're reading this.  It's been an interesting month.  I've been busy with artwork and had a busy month with the holistic therapy biz.  I've been enjoying the nice weather and family and friends as well.  The month hasn't been without it's hiccups though.

In the middle of the month, I found myself looking for a new place to run Holistic Therapy Solutions out of.  I was renting a room and I was assured I would have 24/7 access to the room.  However - at the prodding of another tenant, a policy was put in place that severely restricted my access to serving clients in the evenings and on Saturdays.  Of course, I needed to move the business again.

Front door - Inner Power Hypnotherapy - my new business home.

The first person that came to mind was a friend of mine - Ray Kopakowski.  He's a clinical hypnotherapist. One of his specialties is working with professional and amateur athletes, to help them with performance enhancement.  He also is owner of Inner Power Hypnotherapy located on 19th Ave, just north of Camelback, in Phoenix.  Sure enough - he had a room available and I moved in the end of February.
Reception/Waiting area.
It's a nice place and a good location.  It's convenient to downtown and major freeways.  The light rail runs right up 19th Ave and down Camelback.  Of course, it's in Northwest Phoenix, but quickly accessible to the East side of town...even Scottsdale.

My therapy room - ready to work.
If you need a good massage, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, reiki, or hypnotherapy - give me a call, text, or email and we'll get you an appointment set up, right away.  I'm here to serve - and once again - have a business home where I can do that.  Of course, I still do out calls if you'd rather I bring the table to you.

So, sometimes life is an interesting ride.  Lots of fun, mixed in good work, and even some surprises - not all welcome surprises.  But, I know it always works out for my best and highest good.  Of course there's always a lesson in all of it.  Sometimes its just an opportunity to have faith...faith in God, faith in the process, and know it'll work out.  Today I'm very grateful - I'm blessed in so many many ways...and grateful for the opportunity to find, what I'm expecting will be the home of Holistic Therapy Solutions, for a good long while.

Have a great week everyone.

Peace,

Tom

Holistic Therapy Solutions - New Year Updates

Hi All,

Well, we're in the midst of winter here...it's 80 degrees and perfect in Phoenix today.  Sorry - I know up north its pretty cold; I shouldn't rub it in.  This is the season we love the most here - and it'll change soon enough too....but not today.

It's been a busy winter with changes happening in the business and events coming up.  Of course - I'm still providing the work;  Healing and Nurturing Massage, CranioSacral Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki, and Hypnotherapy.

First, as of 1 February, I've moved full time into a new location near 24th Ave and Peoria Ave....right around the corner from Beyond Today(my previous location).
I'm renting my own therapy room in Healing Heart Creations.  I'm really excited to offer more scheduling options.  Since I'm not sharing space anymore, it provides much more scheduling flexibility.

               2432 W Peoria Ave.
               Bldg 10, Suite 1180
               Phoenix, 85029

Upcoming Events:

I've been doing regular Reiki/Energy Shares for a while now.  I'm going to continue that, once a month.  If you're a practitioner, it's a good place to practice, and if you're new to it, it's a good place to come experience Reiki and learn more about it.  It's very healing, nurturing energy...and we try to have a good time too.
Next share: 26 Feb, 6:30-8:30pm in the classroom at Healing Heart Creations.  Refreshments are provided.  Cost: Donation.

Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop.  5 March, 7-9pm at Healing Heart Creations.
If you'd like more peace and serenity in your life, this may be an event for you.  Learn mindfulness techniques and meditation techniques as well.  It takes some gentle practice, but you can change your mind/thoughts - and change your life...remember - it's all an "inside job."

Mondays - I've developed a part-time partnership with Lauri Hernandez at, At The Center of You.  It's a shop and holistic center in Wickenburg, AZ.  I'll be providing massage and therapy there on Mondays.  It's a great shop - right next to the old movie theater in the historic district on Hwy 60.  Stop in when in Wickenburg.

I know there's a lot going on right now - so make time for yourself.  Take a walk, meditate, go to a movie...and massage or holistic therapy is excellent as well.  If you're feeling good; it's good maintenance.  If not, my therapies are very therapeutic and can be very healing.  What ever you do - make the decision to take good care of yourself - today.

Call, Text, or Email me for a session.

Take Care of Yourself this Holiday Season

Hi All,

Well, the holidays are closing in on us fast.  Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas will follow a month after.  Of course, there are other holidays as well.  Here in America, it usually gets pretty hectic, as people are shopping for the perfects gifts to give, preparing for holiday meals and get togethers, and of course, going to one or maybe several parties.  Of course, this all happens while you still go to work and live your life.  It's no wonder many people get overwhelmed and even run down and sick, during and after the holiday season.

So that raises the question; how can we take care of ourselves this holiday season?  If you want to enjoy yourself and come out the other side of the holidays in good shape - you need balance.  Go with the flow and try not to overload yourself too often, or at all if you can help it.  Of course for most of us it's easier said than done.  Sometimes you can slip out of a party early or take short planned out shopping trips when you can.  Pull together with others and share the preparation duties when you can.  Try to simplify where you can and not overdo it too much.  As Thoreau said, "Simplify, Simplify, Simplify."
the holidays can be a real balancing act.

Remember the basics; proper rest, good nutrition, take a good multi-vitamin.  But that's not the whole story.  How else do we take care of ourselves?  How about doing something good for yourself?  Get a massage or a reflexology session.  Pamper yourself.  Enjoy a relaxing meal with a friend and then go to a spa for a little pampering.  Remember guys - massage is just as good for men as women.  Plan a little time to just relax and recharge your batteries.

Take time for yourself every day.  Take 20-30 minutes every day to just relax.  Sit down in a comfy chair, close your eyes and just relax; be aware of your breath, in and out.  That's meditating.  When you do that, bring yourself into the present moment.  Let go of the past events of the day and your life, and don't think about the things your need to do or plan for.  Just enjoy the moment.  It's so good for you and it's a good practice all year round.

Sometime or several times during the day, stop and just be grateful for whatever you're doing.  Practice gratitude while you're at work, shopping, relaxing at home, or whatever and wherever you are.  Being in present moment and practicing gratitude will bring you an overall sense of feeling good.  If you're feeling down at all - it may be time to start practicing gratitude every day - I promise - it's helps.

Feed your mind and spirit.  Are you taking time to read?  Take a little time and do some reading.  If you haven't been studying your spiritual texts lately, it's certainly a good time of year to take it up again.  Go to church.  Take a little time for worship.  Of course,  you don't have to go to a formal place of worship to do this, but it's certainly nice to worship with like minded people - or if it's been a while, to try something new.

Get into the holiday spirit.  There's so much commercialization of Christmas, they're ready for it in stores at the end of September; it's hard not to be a little jaded sometimes.  However, don't let it get you down.  Enjoy the season, go to a concert or parade, break bread or have a drink with friends.   Just make the decision in your mind that, "I'm going to enjoy the season, this year!"

These are a few simple ideas to help, "make the season bright."  Have some fun and enjoy....and remember - take care of yourself.  And - remember those less fortunate.  There's much we all can do to help others during the holiday season.

May there be more, "Peace on Earth, good will toward men." this year.

Peace,

Tom

Massage

Hi All,

Wow - is it a beautiful day in Phoenix, AZ today.  This is why we deal with the long hot summer - because of days like today.  I hope things are going well for all of you and that you're enjoying yourself wherever you are.

I came across this little graphic on facebook recently that lists many benefits of massage.  It got me thinking about my clients that come in and return for regular massage.  The clients I see that come for massage regularly report experiencing many of these benefits in their lives.

Some of the benefits I see and hear about from my clients include - an overall feeling of relaxation; mentally and physically.  They report better sleep and muscles feeling less tense and less painful.  I see and feel the improvement in muscle tension when I work on them.

One of my favorites is better sleep.  Getting a massage or body work, helps you relax and get a good nights sleep.  It's so gratifying when I hear someone tell me they're sleeping better and feeling less tense and sore during the day.

I really enjoy what I do and like that I can help folks heal and feel better.  Check out the graphic - the list of benefits of regular massage and decide for yourself if regular massage would be of value to you.  If so - find the therapist thats right for you, that you like.  Try some different ones out - find the one that makes you feel good, and you will start seeing the benefits of massage.

If I can be of service - call, text, or email for an appointment.  If not - find a licensed massage therapist who give you the massage you like.

I hope this upcoming holiday season is the best ever for you.  Enjoy every day....don't worry about tomorrow or regrets of the past.  Enjoy this day - at work, at play...wherever you're at.

in gratitude,

Tom

Healing Heart Creations

Hi All,

Well - it's fall here and we'll have a high of 102 degrees here today - Ha!  Still hot! The good thing is it's still warm enough for swimming.  I really miss the pool when it gets too cold.  The other good news is, my business is growing and I'm renting additional therapy space for Mondays and Fridays.

Currently I rent space for my holistic therapy and massage practice at Beyond Today (off I-17, between Cactus Blvd and Peoria Blvd).  I work Tue, Thurs, and Saturday at Beyond Today.  I share the room with another practitioner, who has the other days.

As I've blogged recently, I'm also starting to do massage in Wickenberg once or twice a month.  And, now I'd like to introduce you to my new office on Monday and Friday; Healing Heart Creations (HHC).

Front door entrance
My friend Ginger Hay is the owner of HHC.  Recently she found out she'd have a room available.  Another friend, Brandi Campbell was going to rent the room, but it helped her to have someone to share time and expenses.  So it worked out well for all, for me to come in and rent Mon and Fri.

The comfortable front area at Healing Heart Creations
HHC is a smaller operation - theres 5 of us working there, but it's a great place with great practitioners who practice a variety of healing modalities.  The good thing is that I really enjoy my fellow holistic practitioners.  There's also a classroom there as well, where we can hold classes.  It's a great place.

Ginger - making coffee - you know I like my coffee
So that's the big news.  Things are getting busier and I'm now going to be available 5 days a week.
Come see me now at Healing Heart Creations on Monday and Friday.  I'm still enjoying my practice at Beyond Today on Tues, Thurs, and Sat.  And - once or twice a month I'm traveling to Wickenberg to work also.

I hope you're having a great week.  Be present - past is done, the future will get here when it get's here. Enjoy this present moment - whatever's going on - and - Be kind.

Taking Massage on the Road

Hi All,

Here I am again, pursuing a new opportunity.  As most of you know, I run my holistic therapy biz out of an office in Phoenix, AZ and I'm always open to new opportunities to expand my business.  I only have Tues, Thurs, and Sat in my room at Beyond Today Co.  I'm also starting to work Monday and Fridays at Healing Heart Creations in October (Peoria Ave and I-17).  So I'll be available for appointment 5 days a week.  But - I've got an opportunity in an unlikely place....Wickenberg.

A few months back I designed a logo for a friend of a friend, Laurie Hernandez, and her new store in Wickenberg, AZ.  It's called At The Center Of You.  It's a small shop with various CDs, crystals, clothing, organic soaps and candles, and much more.  It's a really great little place.

At The Center of You...the shop.
Afterward, as we got to know each other, I got the opportunity to do chair massage at Laurie's grand opening and eventually, we discussed me traveling once or more a month to provide massage and holistic therapy at the store.
On the road thru the desert
Well, I was happy to accept the invitation and give it a try.  Wickenberg is a great little western town about 60 miles NW of Phoenix.  There's not very much massage or holistic therapy available in the town either.  So I'm excited about the possibilities.

Selfie...on the road...don't crash the car!
Recently, I took my table and drove up there for a couple of massages.  It went great!  The space is great and very peaceful.  It's truly a great little place for relaxation and healing.  I'll be providing Massage, Reflexology and CranioSacral Therapy to those who want it.  Laurie (a practitioner herself), is a Reiki master, Life coach, and Hypnotherapist and will practice those modalities.

Shops and courtyard by At The Center of You
Wickenberg is a great little town with a lot of history in the old West.  I'm told John Wayne (and others), filmed a lot of westerns in Wickenberg and surrounding area.  The shop is right in the old town area and it's located in one of the "suite's" of an old motel.  There's other shops, restaurants and entertainment immediately surrounding the shop.

The logo I designed for the shop
So if you're in Wickenberg - stop in at At the Center of You, and check it out.  It's a great place.  I'll be up there on Mondays sometimes too.  Schedule a massage there or with me in Phoenix.
Take care - be good to yourself and be kind to others....help make this place a better place for all of us.

Peace,

Tom

Public Healing Day

Hi All,

Well, it's been quite a night and morning here in Phoenix.  We've had our most rainy day on record (rain last night and this morning).  It came down good and caused much damage from flooding all over town.  I'm so grateful that we haven't sustained any injury to family or property.  Hopefully we don't get too much more rain today.

Hopefully your week is starting out well.  Enjoy the week - if you're working this week, have a great work week.  If you are in or around Phoenix, come check out the Public Healing Day at Beyond Today Co (where I rent space, to practice massage and holistic therapy).  Let me explain the details.

Facebook and social media advertisement

We're holding the public healing day on the 4th of October, from 11am - 4pm.  The day will have holistic practitioners that work out of Beyond Today co. coming together to provide mini sessions, for donation only.  The mini sessions will be 20-30 minutes.  The modalities include Massage, Reiki, Re-connective Healing, CranioSacral Therapy, Reflexology, Toe Reading, Intuitive Readings, Hypnotherapy and Guided Imagery.

You can come to try one specific therapy or practitioner, or try all.  You may find yourself moving towards wellness or find much relief from physical and/or emotional pain - without the side effects that often accompany other things (won't name anything).

Flier for the event

I hope you'll come join us on the 4th of October.  Also - come schedule a massage or other holistic therapy, today!

Have a great week folks.  Be present, enjoy today - whatever you're doing.  And - be kind to others....all of them (not just your friends).

Peace,

Tom

The Benefits of Massage

Hi All,

I'm glad to be back in town.  Wow - it's shaping up to be a pretty interesting summer.  It's blazing hot here and we've had several dust storms and summer thunderstorms.  Just this past weekend we had an especially violent storm, right in our neighborhood, where we had a microburst storm that took down trees and electric lines.  I hope wherever you're at, your summer is going well.  I'm grateful for all the rain, and the beauty of nature.  I'm also grateful for the opportunity to work in the holistic therapy field.

One of the favorite therapies I perform is probably the most common.  Massage.  Massage can be one of the most relaxing and healing therapies and the benefits of massage can be very profound.  Today I'd like to expand a little about why massage therapy can be very beneficial for you.

First of all, the obvious.  It's relaxing.  It's stress relieving.  It feels great to get your body and muscles massaged.  In that vein, on a deeper level, massage helps to loosen up your muscles.  Massage helps move the toxins out of your muscle tissue enhancing and accelerating recovery of over used, tired, and injured muscles.

Massage is so relaxing

Getting a massage is also like a work out.  It works weakened muscles.  It increases blood flow thru your muscles, organs, and tissues - increasing and bringing oxygen and nutrients to your muscles, organs and the tissues of your body.  Massage not only increases blood flow, but also the flow of lymph.  This all increases and enhances your bodies immunities and encourages your body to be healthier.

People who have suffered from injuries or have had surgeries will find that massage can speed up recovery.  Massage will help work out and reduce scar tissue and reduce post surgery adhesions and swelling.  It also promotes tissue regeneration and will increase flexibility and range of motion.  Athletes like massage because it helps them to recover from intense workouts and competitions.  It also helps them to heal from the minor and sometimes major injuries.  Massage also assists in releasing endorphins - a brain chemical that helps to reduce pain in the body.

Here I am working with a client, performing a chair
massage at a recent event.  Chair massage can be a
very relaxing 10-15 minute session to help loosen
your back and neck.

Massage will improve the condition of the bodies largest organ - the skin.  It's wonderful for the skin to be worked on, to have the lymph moved along and have increased blood flow in it.  Massage therapists usually use a nice oil or lotion that's also very healthy for the skin.  It feeds the skin healthy nutrients.

Massage can help you to sleep better.  On of my mentors would always say - "it resets your body clock."  Most people find they have a very deep relaxing sleep the evening after getting a massage.  Massage can also lessen depression and anxiety as well as relieving migraine pain.

Massage can be so helpful and assist healing on any and all levels.  It is truly an holistic therapy - it literally affects the whole person in a very positive way.  And - it just feels so good to have someone work on you, pampering you a bit, and helping you to just relax and let go for a little while.

Massage can also be coupled with other holistic therapies, like Reiki and Reflexology.  This can really boost the benefit.

Try a massage sometime soon.  You can get a very deep tissue massage, a lighter touch, or a very therapeutic style massage.  Take care of yourself in all ways - and massage is a very relaxing and stress relieving way to take care of your body.

I practice massage in Phoenix Arizona.  I work out of an office and also can take my table on the road.  If I can serve you, please let me know.  Take a look at my website details and contact information.

Have a great week.  Make a difference in your community.  Help out a neighbor or someone who needs your help.  You won't regret it.  Every little bit helps.

Peace,

Tom

Acti-Tape Taping Class

Hi,

I hope you're having a good start to your week.  I'm feeling great.  Monday is typically a day I work from home and it's been a good day too.

I'm excited about a class I took this past weekend.  It was a therapeutic taping class, specifically using Acti-tape.  What is this tape?  It's an elastic tape designed to help people heal.  It promotes circulation, reduces heat in tissues, relieves pain, reduces inflammation, can draw out a bruise, excellent for breaking up scar tissue, help with structural support, help the fluid to move in the spine and there's even a taping protocol that can help with hay fever.  There's a taping set-up that can assist with carpal tunnel syndrome (want to avoid surgery??  This may be a huge help).  The tape is great to assist with lymphatic drainage also...and other uses as well.

Taping for Frozen Shoulder support
The tape has evolved from athletic trainers tables in pro sports and International and Olympic competitions to being available for use by Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and even Massage and Holistic Therapists like myself, to use on people who can benefit from it.

Taping for Lymphatic Swelling support
The tape is strong, elastic and can stay on up to 16 days.  As it starts to peel, you trim it down, until the last piece falls off.

The tape is great for shoulder support issues, weak muscles, and amazing for helping drainage (like for people who've had lymph nodes removed and need assistance with lymph drainage).

Taping to assist with inflammation of the bursae in the elbow.

Tape for Lymphatic Swelling and Inflammation in the Shoulder Blade area.
There's even a taping set-up to assist with Carpal Tunnel syndrome.  The tape is applied in such a way that it takes the pressure off the nerves that get inflamed in the carpal tunnel and allows them to heal.  It also supports the muscles in the wrist, palm and forearm.

I'm really excited to add this therapeutic modality to my holistic practice.  A little about the instructor - his name is Rod Lyman.  He's an Holistic and Massage Therapist here in Phoenix.  He and his wife own Beyond Today Co. (where I rent space for my practice).  Rod teaches a lot of classes, is a master of massage, energy work, and is now opening an on-line school - where people can take classes on-line.  I'll be posting my classes on-line as well (more to come on that soon).

So - if you need a taping - let me know.  I'm here to serve.

Have a great week.  Enjoy life, help others, and remember - a little gratitude is a good thing.

Peace,

Tom

Blu Lotus Pathways Logo Project

Hi All,

It's been quite a week and I'm ready for the weekend.  Saturday is the holistic fair at work where I'm going to be offering 20 minute, Stress Relieving Hypnosis sessions.  Sunday - the Super Bowl.  I'm going to be making a big pot of chili and we'll be having the kids and some of their friends over for the game.  It's going to be fun.

Today I want to spotlight a logo that I developed for and with a friend, Tiff Vacca.  The logo is for her business, Blu Lotus Pathways.  Over the last few years I've had the privilege to work on some projects for some friends that I've gone to school with and this is one of those projects.

When Tiff and I originally sat down to discuss this project, she already had the name of her business. The lotus and the path (pathways), were very important symbolic images that needed to be represented in this logo.

Logo - Blu Lotus Pathways
So I got to work.  An idea that Tiff really liked was the blue lotus flower coming out of the U in Blu and a pathway also emerging from that U.  I found this concept to be a challenge and began putting ideas on paper with pencil.  It took a little back and forth with ideas, but we eventually came to the concept that would become the finished logo.  In the mean time, I had started working on the lotus flower, illustrating it in Photoshop.

Above is the finished artwork.  The symbolism of the lotus and the path have a very deep personal symbolism for my friend and client.  I felt that bringing it together in a circular (technically oval), shape follows the symbolism and brings it all around, "full circle."

Sunset in Cave Creek, Arizona....beautiful.

I'm proud and honored to have been able to help out with this logo.  You'll find Tiff and Blu Lotus up in Cave Creek, Arizona.  She's an outstanding massage therapist and also offers Reiki, Cranial Sacral therapy, and more.  If you're in Cave Creek, check out Blu Lotus or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/blulotuspathways

Have a great weekend everyone.  Enjoy the Super Bowl, or like some folks...the Super Bowl commercials.  Be good to each other too.

Peace,

Tom
